The Results of the Hasbro Marvel Legends Fans Choice Poll Are In…

Long-suffering Darkhawk fans, all hope is not lost – coming in a close second shows Hasbro how much you want him. But it was the newest of the final four characters in the third Hasbro Marvel Legends Fan Choice Poll, Angela, who won a guaranteed spot in the Marvel Legends line. The first poll from back in 2007 resulted in the oft-maligned (I think unfairly) Age of Apocalypse Sunfire. And the second poll in 2009 brought us Deadpool, Black Widow, and Valkyrie in the Marvel Legends 2-packs.

No word on when Angela will make it into the line, but I’m guessing it will be 4th quarter 2016 at the earliest.

The votes are in and the fans have spoken! After a close poll, one hero stands above the rest as the new Hasbro Marvel Legends figure. That hero is Angela, the awesome Asgardian warrior! Angela took home 28% of the votes, just edging out Darkhawk, who walked away with 26%. Mysterio and Symbiote Spider-Man followed closely behind with 24% and 20% respectively. Thanks to all the fans for voting and be sure to look out for the new Angela Marvel Legends figure from Hasbro!

  • Conan the Barbarian by Insidious Customs: Some sculpted hair and weapons details plus a smooth paint job converts a Masters of the Universe Classics He-Man into Conan. With a week still left to go, the auction has already topped $300. Ends Wednesday, August 5, at 12:43PM PT.
  • Marvel Legends Rogue (Savage Lands) by Ole Jade Jaw: Nothing like a torn-up costume to turn skin-fearing Rogue into a Savage Land jungle babe. Rogue started off her comic book career as an ugly mutant, but Jim Lee turned that around right quick. Ends Sunday, August 2, at 8:39PM PT.
  • Masters of the Universe Classics Bone Throne and Scrying Table: This previously-owned custom was the ultimate playset for Skeletor, until Mattel revealed their Snake Mountain, of course. Mattel also showed off a Bone Throne, but at this point it’s not certain if it will be made as part of Snake Mountain or as a separate accessory. In any case, this might be you best shot at Skeletor’s scrying table. Ends Saturday, August 1, at 1:30PM PT.

Finally! We’ve spotted the listing for the Amazon-exclusive Marvel Legends Avengers: Age of Ultron 4-pack. Amazon’s first Legends exclusive includes Marvel Cinematic Universe versions of Thor, Black Widow, Hawkeye, and for the first time in the line, a Mark Ruffalo Bruce Banner in his civvies. Hasbro first announced the 4-pack at Toy Fair, and we saw the figures for the first time with a whole mess of Marvel Legends at San Diego Comic-Con.

Who is Your Pick for the Hasbro Marvel Legends Fans Choice Poll?

Hasbro Marvel Legends Fans Choice Vote - Darkhawk, Angela, Symbiote Spider-Man, and Mysterio

Hasbro is conducting a new Fans Choice poll for Marvel Legends on the Marvel.com site. The four finalists, Darkhawk, Angela, Symbiote Spider-Man, and Mysterio, were selected by fans from an initial set of 16 choices at the Hasbro booth at San Diego Comic-Con. To rock the vote, Marvel offered up the chance to win a Stan Lee autographed SDCC-exclusive Marvel Infinite Series (nee Marvel Universe) Ant-Man set if you retweeted their announcement of the poll. (The winner was to be the 100th person to retweet, and there’ve been many more who’ve RT’d already.)

In this edition of Border Patrol, we’ve found three Marvel Legends customs that we’re unlikely to see in the actual line any time soon.

  • Black Panther (movie) by bigoso_customs: The Black Panther movie isn’t slated to be released for another three years, but there’s nothing like getting a jump on getting the inevitable action figures for Marvel’s Phase 3. The design is based on some concept art that’s leaked for the movie. Ends Friday, July 24, at 9:44PM PT.
  • Red King by Loose Collector: Hasbro had originally planned to release Planet Hulk’s Red King in a follow-up to the Hulk-themed Fin Fang Foom wave way back in 2008/2009, but that got shelved as the line lost traction at retail and went on hiatus. At that time, I don’t think they could’ve matched what Loose Collector’s done with this custom, but today? They may be able to come closer, but it’s hard to see them making this character now. Ends Thursday, July 23, at 6:35PM PT.
  • Rogue by nartardee: Rogue is one of the remaining “lost figures” from when Hasbro made the switch from running changes for variants in the line – she would have been a swap-out for Emma Frost from the Jubilee wave. While this custom is from the Jim Lee costume vs the Marvel Now! look, it does highlight that there are better options available for the base body. When I talked to Dwight Stall at SDCC, he mentioned that if Hasbro does revisit the remaining lost figures, he’d probably re-do them now than releasing them as they’d been shown before.
