Captain America: the Winter Soldier Trailer Looks Awesome – Bring on the Toys!

Captain America the Winter Soldier trailer

Thor: the Dark World may be opening in two weeks, but Cap is generating his own hype with the official trailer for Captain America: the Winter Soldier. Looks awesome! I still think that while Chris Evans is great in the role of Cap, he still looks super goofy in the helmet they designed for the movie – and I think Marvel Studios knows it too, which is why it gets so little airtime in the trailer. The Steve Rogers Super Soldier costume from the comics looks great, though I don’t hold out much hope for a better looking helmet if that becomes his Cap costume in the movie (the action figure hints that the helmet will be just like the old one).

All the supporting characters look great – ScarJo looks good as Black Widow with the super straight hair we saw first in action figure form. Thankfully, Howard Anthony Mackie as the Falcon looks like a badass, and not goofy considering how his costume from the comics might have turned out in live action. And Samuel L. Jackson – looks like rough times for the eye patch are coming.

Captain America: the Winter Soldier is due out in April next year. Luckily, we have a much shorter wait for the action figures, which should be out early first quarter. We got some reveals for the Captain America Marvel Legends line (aka Captain America: The Winter Soldier – Infinity Legends) at NYCC, and Previews had some more details for the Cap line recently. And don’t worry – Cap figures based on the comics will be part of the line too.

Marvel Legends Lost Boys Dracula and Morbius

It’s almost Halloween again, so it’s time to watch Marvel Super Heroes send up some vampires. Scooby and the Gang, Twilight, and more get some lampooning love in this oldie but goodie from the team at MSH: What The–?!

Nothing can beat Morbius, the Living Vampire, as the sexy sax vamp from the Lost Boys. See more at the Marvel Super Heroes: What The–?! home page.

Border Patrol: DC Universe Classics Talon, Marvel Legends Ms. Marvel, and Star Wars Black Series Galen Marek Starkiller

DC Universe Classics New 52 Talon by Draubner – I’m not following the New 52, so I’ll have to take it on faith that this custom is true to the comics – but I dig the costume design, and think the custom is well-realized, whether it’s comic-accurate or not – no idea what is kitbashed and what is sculpted, and that’s the sign of a good custom – ends Oct 23, 2013 14:17:00 PDT

In AFP’s Border Patrol, we scour active eBay auctions for customized action figures that you won’t want to let slip by!

Customizers, don’t forget to check out the submission guidelines for CustomCon 36.

Weekend Toy Run: Marvel Universe Iron Man 3 Hall of Armor 6-Pack

Iron Man 3 Marvel Hall of Armor Collection Action Figure 1 Iron Man 3 Marvel Hall of Armor Collection Action Figure 2

Amidst all this diecast Iron Man goodness from Play Imaginative, let’s not forget that there’s already a line of Iron Man action figures that could satisfy your urge to build a hall of armor. Sure, the Marvel Universe figures from Hasbro are all plastic, not diecast, but that combined with their smaller size means they’re a lot easier on the wallet, too.

However, this six-pack of figures has been selling in the neighborhood of $100 on the secondary market – while 4 of the figures are repacks with the ARC Reactor glow, the Mark 42 and the Tony Stark figures are exclusive to the set. And the only other way to get a Mark 42 in this scale is via the Assemblers line, which is not as articulated. Luckily, the set is now more abundant, and Amazon has it on sale.

Note: Just saw that Wal-Mart has the Iron Man 3 Hall of Armor for the same price, but you have to get to $50 to get free shipping.

Captain America and Daredevil: Devil’s Advocate – Bill’s Comics

It’s been a busy few days, but I live for the Fridays that I can post a new installment from Bill’s Comics. His latest features Captain America and Daredevil, which is fitting, because Cap has a movie coming out in a few months, and Daredevil… will be the new Batman in the next Superman movie. I know – that one hurts. But enjoy this comic!
