Border Patrol: Marvel Legends Superior Venom, DC Universe Classics Kyle Rayner and Red Hood

In our first installment of Border Patrol for 2014, we’ve got a Marvel variant that could definitely be made and two DC variants that should have been made.

  • Marvel Legends Superior Venom by glennwebman69 – if Hasbro could make a Marvel Legernds Superior Spider-Man (currently hitting shelves), then they should start thinking about making Superior Venom – after all, it’s the best thing to happen to our favorite symbiote in the comics, just like Superior Spider-Man was the best thing to happen to our favorite web-slinger – ends Jan 16, 2014 16:19:02 PST
  • DC Universe Classics Green Lantern Kyle Rayner by FUMan Studio – back when DC Universe Classics was going strong, Mattel released a Kyle Rayner figure that was pretty ok – it just wasn’t the iconic Rayner from when he was part of Grant Morrison’s JLA – this is a big hole in the line-up, especially since Mattel is releasing a hook-handed Aquaman in its last gasp of DCUC this year – ends Jan 11, 2014 06:00:43 PST
  • DC Universe Classics Red Hood Jason Todd by Mint Condition Customs – don’t get me wrong – I like Grant Morrison, but that doesn’t mean that every action figure made should be from his books – case in point, the Red Hood Mattel released in the Club Infinite Earths subscription was the one featured for just a couple of issues during Morrison’s recent Batman and Robin run – but pretty much everyone I know would have been happier with this version – ends Jan 12, 2014 19:11:12 PST

Happy New Year! – Watch the Marvel Legends Wolverine Epic Split

Marvel Legends Wolverine Epic Split

Hope you had a great holiday. If you did any surfing over the past couple weeks, you probably encountered the Chuck Norris Epic Christmas Split, the interweb’s response to the Jean Claude Van Damme Epic Split commercial that was produced by Volvo.

Not to be outdone, the Marvel Legends Wolverine from Toy Biz one ups them both, with some help from a couple of Hasbro Sentinels from the Marvel Universe line. The video is from Reckless Abandonment Pictures, the guys who brought us some action figure stop motion videos for the openings of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and X-Men cartoons.

We’ll get back into the swing of things this week – in the meantime, enjoy the video!

My X-Mas Wish – Hasbro, Make a Marvel Legends Squirrel Girl Already!

This holiday season, I’ve found myself playing a fair amount of Marvel Heroes, the action RPG from Gazillion Entertainment. I was a big fan of the earlier Diablo games (not so much Diablo 3), and the team behind the first two games drove the development of this one. As such, the game may look a bit “classic” but the non-stop action coupled with the Marvel lore makes it a very fun experience.

Before I started playing, I wondered about what it would be like, since as a player, you are limited to choosing from the roster of Marvel heroes in the game (versus designing your own hero, like in many other RPGs). But with a steady release of new playable characters, it’s not all a bunch of Wolverines running around. Which brings me to my point – of *all* the playable characters (and a fair amount of villains in the game), there’s only one who doesn’t have an accompanying action figure in Marvel Legends – Squirrel Girl. It’s time for Hasbro to step up to the plate and make her!

First Look: Marvel Captain America Infinite Series 6-Inch Legends – at Target

Marvel Legends Captain America First Look 1

Hasbro’s latest series of Marvel Legends (we’ll just call them Captain America Legends instead of the so hard to remember official name) may already be in the store room of your local Target. Our good pal trs was enterprising enough to purchase a case of these figures yesterday. As you may know, both Cap Legends and Spider-Man Legends (also shortened for simplicity) are due to hit in the New Year. So, if you’re brave enough to venture out on some of the busiest shopping days of the year, you might find these already on shelves – but more likely, you may have to talk to a salesperson about checking in the back.
