Border Patrol: Marvel Legends Ultron, Jubilee, and Whirlwind

Border Patrol - Marvel Legends Ultron, Jubilee, and Whirlwind

In this week’s Border Patrol, we’ve got a trio of Marvel Legends customs, including one that closes in just a couple of hours. Don’t miss out!

  • Marvel Legends Ultron (Movie) Build-a-Figure by Horton’s Heroes: This repaint of the build-a-figure from the recent Marvel Legends wave is very clean and shiny, so it’s no wonder its auction is off the hook. It ends in a couple of hours, so if you are willing to put down some coin, better act fast. Ends today at 3:32PM PST.
  • Marvel Legends Jubilee by TextureMe Customs: If you didn’t get the build-a-figure from the exclusive X-Men wave, then this might be the one for you. It’s built off the Captain Marvel body, so it might be a little big depending on how you like your Jubilees. One thing I like is the multi-colored plasma effects on the accessories that came with Scarlet Witch. Ends Friday, July 17, at 8:09PM PST.
  • Marvel Legends Whirlwind by Stevid Customs: Marvel Legends could use some more Masters of Evil, and this Whirlwind is about as clean as you can get a custom. Ends Saturday, July 18, at 7:00PM PST.

In AFP’s Border Patrol, we scour active eBay auctions for customized action figures that you won’t want to let slip by!

CustomCon 39 is coming! Entry deadline is August 1.

SDCC 2015: Hasbro Marvel Legends Panel Reveals

SDCC 2015 Hasbro Spider-Man Marvel Legends - Gwen Ben

Hasbro held its Marvel panel yesterday (video coming soon to our YouTube channel) and showed off figures planned for the first waves of Captain America and Spider-Man-themed Marvel Legends in 2016. Now, we’d already been introduced to the full Spider-Man wave with Absorbing Man as the BAF at the morning event on Thursday, and a trio of figures from the Cap wave on Friday. But Hasbro still had a few surprises in store for us.

After the panel, Hasbro sent us pics of nearly all the Marvel Legends reveals from the panel. Not just the typical white background product pics – they also included some really gorgeous drama shots. Kudos to the team that shot those!

SDCC 2015: Four Horsemen Mythic Legions (with AFP Video Fly-By)

SDCC 2015 Four Horsemen Mythic Legions (1 of 15)

One of my favorite stops at San Diego Comic-Con is the with the Four Horsemen, the folks behind the scenes on some of our favorite toy lines like Mattel’s Masters of the Universe Classics and now Thundercats. I spoke with Eric Treadaway about their own line of toys, Mythic Legions, which launched on Kickstarter as the most-funded action figure project of all time, surpassing the previous reigning champs, Boss Fight Studios’ Vitruvian H.A.C.K.S. and their previous Kickstarter for the Gothitropolis Ravens.

We also got to touch on their continuing work with Mattel, on the DC Comics Multiverse and Batman v Superman 6-inch lines. And of course, Thundercats!

SDCC 2015: Hot Toys – Star Wars, Marvel, and Terminator

SDCC 2015 Hot Toys (1 of 51)

One booth stop I must make every year at Comic-Con is Sideshow Collectibles, to see the Hot Toys they’ve got on display. But it’s a bit of an odd licensing vs. distribution conundrum this year, for all parties involved. Hot Toys has started cranking out the Star Wars figures, and Sideshow is their distributor in the States. But Sideshow has also held their own Star Wars license for longer than Hot Toys has. Coopetition?

Let’s see what Hot Toys has done in the short time they’ve held their Star Wars license, and see what else they’re up to.

SDCC 2015: Hasbro Reveals Marvel Legends Captain America, Mockingbird, and Taskmaster; plus More Pics [Updated]

SDCC 2015 Hasbro Marvel Legends Captain America, Mockingbird, and Taskmaster reveal (1 of 7)

Today Hasbro added three more figures in their display at San Diego Comic-Con – a classic Captain America, Mockingbird, and an armored Taskmaster. I’m not up on the latest for Tasky, but he looks cool in some armored pieces. Admittedly though, I’m still hoping for an UDON Taskmaster, and this will keep an official one out of my hands for a while more.

In addition, I’ve taken some other Marvel Legends pics that I haven’t posted yet – the Con exclusives and packaged samples of the umpcoming retailer exclusives. Excelsior!
