Pre-Order the Marvel Legends Thanos Wave at Amazon

Toy Fair 2015 Hasbro Marvel Legends Thanos (3 of 14)

If you are looking to pick up the Thanos Build-a-Figure in the next Marvel Legends Infinite Series wave, you may have the best opportunity to do so at Amazon. Figures are available to pre-order individually for $21.99 each and qualify for Prime shipping. They’re due to ship May 25.

To avoid duplicate BAF pieces, pick up five of the six figures. Just pick one of the two Fierce Fighters – Spider-Woman or Hellcat. If you don’t mind an extra Thanos head and arm, get them both.

Check out all the figures in our Toy Fair 2015 Marvel Legends Report. And thanks once again to Paul for another timely heads-up!

Border Patrol: Marvel Legends Polaris, Strong Guy, and Forbush Man

For this edition of Border Patrol, we’ve got three Marvel Legends customs that have varying degrees of possibilities to see plastic form from Hasbro. From most to least:

  • Marvel Legends Polaris by IslandToybox – Polaris is one of the most popular of the X-Men who hasn’t seen a figure in the Legends line – she is regularly at the top of the most wanted lists, so maybe Hasbro will get the hint – ends Friday, March 6 at 5:35PM PST
  • Marvel Legends Strong Guy by callan-86 – X-Factor’s Strong Guy is a possibility in either the Build-a-Figure format or using one of the larger body types that Hasbro has developed – but he probably doesn’t have enough mojo outside of X-Factor fandom to get his own figure – ends Friday, March 6 at 8:39PM PST
  • Marvel Legends Forbush Man by Kustom Novelty Workz – let’s face it, as much as you and I may love Forbush Man, it’d take a miracle to see Hasbro make an official one in the Legends line – available via Buy It Now or Best Offer

In AFP’s Border Patrol, we scour active eBay auctions for customized action figures that you won’t want to let slip by!

Weekend Toy Run: Spider-Man Marvel Legends Hobgoblin Wave at Amazon

SDCC 2014 Hasbro Marvel Legends Spider-Man 2015

The latest wave of Marvel Legends, featuring a Spider-Man theme with a Hobgoblin build-a-figure, is now available to pre-order at Amazon. Each of the figures is available individually for $21.99 with a March 25 release date, and can qualify for free 2-day Prime shipping.

You can also pre-order a case of the Hobgoblin wave at Entertainment Earth for the best per figure price, but that will leave you with an extra Spider-Man and Anti-Venom. Or you can pre-order a set at BigBadToyStore – no leftovers, but it’s a higher per figure price than Amazon and you pay shipping on top of that.

See more of Spidey Legends (aka The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Marvel Legends Infinite Series) in our Marvel Legends report and Marvel Legends video fly-bys from Toy Fair. And thanks to our good friend Paul for once again giving us the heads-up. Happy shopping!

Toy Fair 2015: Marvel Legends Update – Bucky Cap Defeats Iron Fist in Loser Leaves Town Match

Marvel Legends Bucky Cap vs. Iron Fist

In our Marvel Legends Report for Toy Fair 2015, we reported that Hasbro was working towards retiring the Bucky Cap base body – this surprised and disappointed us, since we consider it one of the better base bodies and think it deserves more run time. I bumped into Hagop later in the show, and he asked me if I was sure it was Bucky Cap – he had heard that it was the Iron Fist body that would be taking that long, lonely walk into the sunset. While I conceded that would make more sense – the body is older and has issues, particularly in the lower half – I was certain I had heard correctly.

But Hagop was sure he heard correctly too, so I wrote to Hasbro for clarification on who would win in a fight. Here’s what Dwight Stall had to say:

We are planning to retire the Iron Fist body as soon as possible.  It is outdated from where we are today and if possible we’d like to walk away from using it in the future.

So there you have it – if you’re fans of the Bucky Cap body, rejoice! If you’re fans of the Iron Fist body… well, you’d probably do better picking up Bullseye fodder on eBay.

Toy Fair 2015: Square Enix Launches Play Arts Kai Marvel Variants Line

Toy Fair 2015 Square Enix Play Arts Kai Marvel Variants (1 of 7)

Square Enix has broadened their non-video game licenses to include the Marvel Universe, by virtue of their Play Arts Kai Variants line. Variants reimagine characters with hyper-stylized designs. With their DC, Square Enix used Variants to extend their DC lines beyond the movie and Arkham lines they already had in place. Marvel Variants, in contrast, allows Square Enix to skirt the edges of existing comic book or movie licenses that may belong to other licensees.

The Marvel Variants line begins with Spider-Man, Iron Man, and Thor, and Square Enix also teased an upcoming Venom in silhouette. With prices creeping up, the DC Variants are now in the $95 and up range from $60 – 70 a couple of years ago. If Marvel comes in at these prices, what’s your interest in the new line?
