Border Patrol: Masters of the Universe Classics Despara, Hordak, and Le-O

For this week, here’s a trio of Masters of the Universe-related customs:

MOTUC Despara 1 MOTUC Despara 2 MOTUC Despara 3

Masters of the Universe Classics Despara by Hunter Knight Customs – I haven’t been reading the new He-Man comic book (should I?) so I can’t speak to how this custom matches up to She-Ra’s misguided Despara character, but I find it pretty cool nonetheless – ends Oct 13, 2013 18:55:31 PDT

In AFP’s Border Patrol, we scour active eBay auctions for customized action figures that you won’t want to let slip by!

Customizers, don’t forget to check out the submission guidelines for CustomCon 36.

Ask Matty Q&A for 10/1 (a Couple Days Late and a Few Questions Short!)

A couple of things for this month’s Q&A with Mattel. First, Toy Guru has asked us to keep questions to the lines that are available through Mattycollector. So while in the past we could ask about retail lines, for now, we’ll stick to… I guess it’s Masters of the Universe Classics, plus the other odds and ends as they pop up in their online store.

Second, I did get the responses a couple of days ago, so it’s my fault we’re late!

1. We’ve always understood that extra heads were tough to do because of the tooling and paint apps required. What should we expect for pricing if you do a 200X head pack? Would six heads be in the same ballpark as the previous weapons packs?

NECA MOTU 200X Clawful Staction NECA MOTU 200X Hordak Staction NECA MOTU 200X Snout Spout Staction

Honestly, this is just an item we are in prelim discussion with. Any details like price and availability are so far off right now we simply couldn’t speculate!

Video: Toy Guru Reviews the Power-Con 2013 Masters of the Universe Classics Reveals

Mattycollector Power-Con 2013 MOTUC Review

In this post-Power-Con update, Toy Guru runs through some of the finer features of the Masters of the Universe Classics reveals. Some of the highlights: Battle Lion parts can convert Battle Cat to his 200X version, Horde Troopers come with two of each accessory, and Modulok can come apart everywhere the vintage figure did – except at the torso.

DC Universe Classics fans, don’t torture yourself over the hook-handed Aquaman sitting carded on top of the Castle Grayskull box. I’m betting that production was underway for him even while Club Infinite Earths was starting its death throes. I’m not really a fan of the look, but I do want a Morrison JLA, so if he does go up for sale, I’ll try to get him.

Power-Con 2013 Pics by ActionFiguresRule

powercon2013022

Once again, I wasn’t able to go to Power-Con, which was held a couple weekends ago. Luckily for me, our buddy Richard, aka ActionFiguresRule, from the MATRIX Photo Booth and AFR Studio sent us over a hundred pics he snapped at the event.

There’s cosplay, internet and media personalities, Masters of the Universe Classics, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and the Four Horsemen properties – Gothitropolis Ravens, Power Lords, and Outer Space Men. Richard even captured portions of the Power-Con auction and cosplay contest. Fun stuff!

Sunday Soapbox: Help Me! – I’m Thinking About Second-Chance Subbing to Club Eternia

Club Eternia Second Chance Subs

By the time August 19th had rolled around, I had already decided. No Club Eternia and no Club Ecto-1 – it was just the DC Club Infinite Earths for me. Now it’s a month later, the DC subscription is dead, and I am seriously mulling over taking the second chance to subscribe to Club Eternia, since Mattel has re-opened the Club Eternia sub through September 24.

So what’s changed?
