Since the MattyCollector sale for June falls on June 17, a Monday, Early Access for subscribers opens tomorrow, June 13, instead of over the weekend. Seems like a light month, even for early access – but I wonder if the chase figure will appear again. Mattel has posted some more details about their upcoming Flying Stands 2.0, which will be available during MattyCollector’s June sale. Like their original flight stands, they’ll come with 3 different sizes of clips, to accommodate Masters of the Universe Classics, DC Universe Classics, Ghostbusters, and more.
The new flight stands have a couple of upgrades – in addition to a hinge in the arm (akin to what was there in the first version), the clip itself will swivel, and the arm can be telescoped to allow for different heights. There will also be peg holes where you can attach the clips that aren’t in use. While it may seem ungainly, I know with the original flight stands, the extra clips are in some drawer somewhere and will probably never resurface.
One other difference – the new price is $15, compared to $12 for the old ones. Not clear at this point is how many stands will come with a single order. It used to be three. That will make a big difference with the value of the new stands. What are your thoughts?
My dad celebrated a birthday recently – Happy Birthday, Dad! I was happy to spend the day with him and Mom, and that got me in a giving mood. Masters of the Universe Classics has been going a little out of my depth with some of the more obscure Filmation and Princess of Power characters, so Octavia didn’t float my boat at first. Seeing her in package with her extra limbs removed is somehow a little more appealing to me now.

The second Mattel item is a bit of a head scratcher. People have been asking for the subscription window for the Matty subs to be open longer – presumably, it’s tough to commit to a year’s worth of figures only knowing a quarter’s worth of them. In response, Mattel has extended the window – but on the front end, before any information at all on the figures will be known. Thanks for that! 🙂
In addition, at this point there’s only two subs on the table – Club Eternia for Masters of the Universe Classics, and Club Infinite Earths for DC Universe Classics. There’s no extension to Club Black Freighter for Watchmen or Club Filmation, both of which went live this year without any thermometer drama. But I don’t think we should take this as final on what will be available – who knows what surprises Mattel has up their sleeves for San Diego Comic-Con?
2014 Club Eternia® & Club Infinite Earths Subscriptions Available 6/17 thru 8/19

As you probably know, we usually open subscriptions right after our Mattypalooza fan panel at San Diego Comic-Con and they stay open for about a month. Over the years, many of you have asked us to run the subscriptions longer so for 2014, we’re starting the sale early so everyone has a chance to get theirs when it’s convenient for them!
Subscriptions will be available for Masters of the Universe® Classics Club Eternia® and DC Universe Club Infinite Earths. When you sign up on 6/17, you’ll get all the subscription details except the names of the club-exclusive figure and first-quarter figures for each club. As always, those will be revealed at Mattypalooza Fan Panel at SDCC. (If you’re wondering why we don’t wait to open the subs until after the fan panel and leave the subscriptions open past August, it’s because we need final numbers by 8/19 to set production quotas and hit a January 2014 release date.)
