Masters of the Universe Classics King Randor and the Goddess

Battle Armor He-Man may not be listed yet, but Mattel did add King Randor and the Goddess to Mattycollector.com today.  They will both be available on December 15.  King Randor is the Club Eternia subscription figure, and the Goddess is the bonus figure.

December will be a big MOTU Classics month, because Skeletor is also being reissued.

I’m pretty excited about Battle Armor He-Man. As a kid, he was my favorite of the MOTU toys – well, maybe after Jitsu. 😀

The original had a spring-loaded barrel inside its chest. When you hit it, it would rotate to the next of three positions, starting with pristine armor. Then it would show one slash, and then two. Hit it a third time and it’d be back in pristine shape.  [Correction – Bubba Shelby reminded me that you had to dial back the barrel manually.  Gimme a break – that was a quarter century ago! :D]

I know action features are frowned upon by serious action figure collectors 😉 so I was kind of hoping that they’d figure out how to recreate that barrel with this figure. However, removable plates are a great way to get the same effect.

Although he’s not listed yet, Battle Armor He-Man is the bonus figure on Mattycollector.com in January. Now bring on pics of Battle Cat!

Just got in early packaged samples of the first variant of He-Man in his all new Battle Armor!

He-Man comes with removable chest armor with a pop out chest plate. Just snape in any one of the three chest plates to recreate the look of the spinning armor mechanism from the vintage toy. This toy does not feature a spinning tumble, but does include all three chest plates – standard, one smash, and my personal favorite, two smashes!

He also comes with his heroic Battle Axe just like in the famous painting of Battle Armor He-Man on top of Battle Cat. (anyone have the art book?)

And speaking of Battle Cat. We just got samples of him in package too, but the corners are all bent up. Bleh. We’ll try to fix it up and make it photo ready and get that up soon too. The final toy will obvioulsy have a perfect package. (or as close as possible!)

Battle Armor He-Man goes on sale January 15th, only on MattyCollector.com. He is a “bonus” figure and is not included in the 2010 Club Eternia subscription. Gets your before he rides away!

AFP Ask Matty Round-Up for 11/2/9

Here are the latest questions and answers from Mattel. Thanks to Mattel and Toy Guru!

Masters of the Universe Classics

1. Zodak (pics and review) was the first “bonus” figure for the Masters of the Universe Classics line. Based on how he sold, what changes are you considering for bonus figures, if any? Do you have any update on combining bonus orders with Club Eternia subs so subscribers aren’t penalized with double shipping?

If the first few bonus figure do well, we will continue them into 2010. If they do not, figures that were bonus figures will just become standard monthly figures. You won’t be able to combine shipping on subscriptions and standard purchases, but once we gauge how bonus figures do, we will be able to include them in the 2011 subscription.

Masters of the Universe Classics Zodak with He-Man and Man-at-Arms

I’m a bit confused.  Yes, my Masters of the Universe Classics Zodak arrived.  And today, I finally received shipping notification for my subscription figure for Teela, over a week after she and Zodak went on sale.  And my credit card – no charges yet for either (not that I’m complaining!)  I guess Mattel and Digital River (who runs their Mattycollector site) have some kinks to iron out.

But let’s talk about Zodak!  Of the 200X Masters redesigns, Zodak was one of my favorites.  I liked that they made him black – let’s face it – the only minorities in the original line were bad guys.  I liked the tats.  And I really liked the removable helmet.  So when Mattel announced Zodak after releasing Zodac in his back to white classic appearance, I was pretty psyched.

Masters of the Universe Classics Teela Sales Update

Concerned about not getting a shipping notice on your Mattycollector.com order from last week?  Rest a little easier – Mattel posted a couple of Facebook updates today.  Read on.

Mattycollector To clear the air, subscribers will be getting Teela. She is NOT on backorder. Customer service has been giving out some incorrect information and we are working with them to correct this. Going forward, we will make sure subscriber figures are shipped first along with a confirmation email. We apologize for this inconvenience!

Trying to clear things up

Hey fans,

We know there has been a lot of confusion floating around on some recent orders and misinformation. I’ll do my best to clear this up.

We did switch over our customer service to Digital River, and it appears a few customer service reps have been going “off book” and giving out some incorrect info. Here is the latest:

MOTU Classics Wun-Dar
MOTU Classics Wun-Dar

1: Wun-Dar is most definitely the subscription figure only. He will only be available if you purchased a 2010 Club Eternia subscription and will be mailed out in the spring along with the all new poster. Wun-Dar will not be sold in any other way. If you did not purchase a subscription, you will not be getting Wun-dar. Nothing has changed on Wun-Dar from our original plans announced at SDCC 2009.

2: All 2009 subscribers WILL be getting Teela. The shipping confirmation should have gone out immediately and I apologize for this not happening. Going forward, we have made it very clear to Digital River that subscription figures need to ship out first (along with confirmation emails).

This may not have been the smoothest sale, but everyone will get their product.

I’ll do my best to keep an eye on Facebook and answer any other pressing questions. Unless you hear an announcement from me, there shouldn’t be any major changes. We’ll talk to Digital River and make sure their customer service reps are up on the latest info and training!

Doing all we can to correct these issues! Nothing is more important then creating a smooth process and pleasing our fans. Not every sale goes by the book, but we are working on fixing all of these issues. Thanks for everyone’s understanding!

Matty
