Mattel has posted new pictures of the Masters of the Universe Classics He-Man and Skeletor that will be reissued in November and December, respectively. There doesn’t look to be any changes to the figures themselves, but the packaging will feature a minor change – a small new graphic that says “The Original” – I think this is a nice compromise that will suit new and old collectors alike.
New releases of He-Man and Skeletor coming this Winter!

Hey He-Fans!
As promised, we are going to kick off the re-releases of MOTUC figures starting with He-Man in November and Skeletor in December. Here is a sneak preview of the new package (with minimal changes). More info will be up on MattyCollector.com in a week or so!
Since the Mattel exclusives are going on sale tomorrow, I’ll try to get some quick hits up on the exclusives that I picked up. Sometimes I get the fever to buy something, anything, and on big sales days, that fever can get me in a lot of trouble. Maybe seeing some pics and hearing me ramble on will help you figure out whether you really want to buy something.
So, first up is the Masters of the Universe He-Ro. I picked up the exclusive version at San Diego, and for a really great review, Veebee at TheFwoosh.com did a pretty extensive look at it about a month and a half ago. I’ll point out what’s different between the versions and why mine is so much better than his! 😉
Mattel has updated its Facebook page with its San Diego Comic-Con presentations – DC Power Partnership Panel – SDCC 09 and Mattypalooza Fan Panel – SDCC 2009. I’ve included some excerpts for DC Universe Classics, Masters of the Universe Classics, and Ghostbusters. The panels were great – folks were pretty excited about all the reveals.
Mattel held its “Mattypalooza” panel today, in which they recapped the Mattycollector.com offerings, including DC (which was a recap from the earlier DC Universe panel), Ghostbusters, and Masters of the Universe Classics. I’ll be covering the latter in this update.
MOTU Classics is performing better than Mattel expected, so the line is expanding. Beyond the standard monthly figures, we’ll be getting much more. On selected months, there will be bonus figures consisting of reissues, repaints, oversized figures, and even army builder 2-packs. Also, Mattel will make an accessory pack, once per season.
Masters of the Universe Club Eternia Exclusive Won-Dar
The subscription, now called “Club Eternia,” is coming back for the full year of 2010, with some minor changes. Because interest was low, they’ll no longer have the “hold for combined shipping” option. Also, there will be a $20 subscription fee – and they’ll provide an exclusive figure, Won-Dar (a remake of the extremely rare vintage Wonderbread He-Man), and posters of an Eternia map and a character roster.
Club Eternia is available to order on Mattycollector.com. Subscriptions will close in about 3 weeks.
After a one and a half hour wait in Mattel’s exclusives line, I gave up and went to take some pictures. Shout out to TheFwoosh.com’s Bam Bam, who held the spot in line for almost all of Preview Night before throwing in the white towel – it was clear we wouldn’t get to make any purchases there tonight.
In any case, we got to make a quick pass through Mattel.
DC Universe Classics – Production figures for Wave 9 were on hand. Chemo has bubble effects added. This wave looks really clean. Also, 2-ups for the Joker and Power Girl. The Joker will come with the Joker Fish accessory (unfortunately obscured in my pic).
