Masters of the Universe Classics Moss Man and Stratos, The Dark Knight Scarecrow, and DC Universe Classics Wave 12 On Sale 3/15

It’s just over a week away, so be sure to mark your calendars, set your alarm clocks, and bookmark the all-in-one sales page. This MattyCollector.com sales date may turn out be just as crazy as February’s.  There’s no Battle Cat this time, but Mattel still managed to make something that is sure to attract a lot of traffic. When they decided to make the running change to unflock Moss Man’s ears, they managed to finish production on a very limited number of Moss Man figures with flocked ears.

Because this variant will be very rare, we’re sure to see the folks who would have preferred flocked ears, completists on the line, and Scalp-or wannabes storming the site on Monday the 15th. Even though I’ve got a Club Eternia subscription, I’m bummed because I may have to fight my way through anyways, to get a reissued Stratos – he’s the only one I’ve skipped so far.

Masters of the Universe Classics Trap Jaw

DSCN4213.JPG

Hot on the heels of the Battle Cat pictorial review, let’s have another look at Trap Jaw (Ron snapped a few quick shots of Trap Jaw during Toy Fair), evil and armed for combat! Another amazing figure from Mattel’s Masters of the Universe Classics line. Just look at that crazy design!

One thing I like about this toy line is that every now and then you get a character with his/her own “gimmick” that keeps the monthly purchases interesting. Tri-Klops had his rotating eyes, Scareglow glows in the dark, and Trap Jaw here has alternate robotic arm attachments. He also comes with alternate parts to create his previous identity of Kronis.

Poll: Will You Buy the All-In Club Eternia Subscription?

Masters of the Universe Classics - Whiplash 01 (767x1024).jpgMasters of the Universe Classics - Moss-Man 02 (768x1024).jpgMasters of the Universe Classics - She-Ra 02 (768x1024).jpgMasters of the Universe Classics - Tytus 05 (1024x1024).jpgMasters of the Universe Classics - Gygor 02 (1024x1024).jpg

As a follow-up to yesterday’s poll (What Kind of Club Eternia Subscription Do You Want for 2011?) I wanted to ask you how you felt about the Toy Guru’s all-in option.   Here’s Toy Guru’s description of the current plan.

So the tentative plan for 2011 is to have the following:

  • 12 Monthly figs
  • 4 Quarterly figs
  • 4 Oversized figs ($30 – $60)
  • 1 Subscription only figure (similar to Wun-Dar)

We are only going to offer one type of subscription (sorry folk, no tiers here). That being said, would fans prefer the subscription include only the 12 monthly figures or 1 of every sku including quarterly figures and oversize figures? Things could change, and obviously if Battlecat and Tytus don’t perform well we may not go forward with the oversize skus in 2011, but from initial feedback from NYTF, it looks like fans can’t wait for more big characters!

via 2011 Subscription – all in or only monthly figs?

It looks like the all-in subscription would guarantee double the expense that the 2010 Club Eternia sub does, so I will have to think twice before pulling the trigger on that. I would also think that if the subscription is double the cost, then Mattel ought to include two bonus figures.

If you’ve got some thoughts on this, feel free to leave a comment below.

AFP Ask Matty Round-Up for 3/1/10

Here’s the latest Ask Matty Q&A.  Thanks to Toy Guru and Mattel!

1. Great reveal for the Wal-Mart exclusive Green Lantern 5-pack. Some quick questions: Is that Tomar Re or Tomar Tu? Is John Stewart’s Mosaic costume the one that matches Katma Tui’s from Wave 11? Will GL Sinestro have a mask, and if so, is it sculpted or just painted on?

It is Tomar Re. The other outfits and look of the remaining three characters will be revealed shortly.
