First Look – Masters of the Universe Classics The Goddess – TheFwoosh.com

We got a First Look at Fwoosh’s King Randor yesterday, and we get the Goddess today.  Randor is the Club Eternia figure – if you’ve got the subscription, he’s the last figure for this year.  The Goddess is one of two bonus figures this month, the second being a reissue of Skeletor with “The Original” sticker added to the packaging.

Will I beat myself up if I skip her?  It’s a big month for me on MattyCollector, with a 6-inch Winston from Ghostbusters and the Animal Instincts DC Universe Classics 2-pack, so I’ll have to think about it.  I do like the look of the translucent plastic.  Decisions, decisions!

I am going to let the pictures do a lot of the talking for this one, but, even though the Goddess is mostly the Teela figure, she is not really just a simple repaint. The reuse is spot on as it matches the source material perfectly. I also really like the color deco on her too, her body suit and armor really fit the overall theme of her character and it nicely done. Her eyes are very striking as well, though, I am sure some will notice that she does have pupils, something that the discerning fan is aware the original source material is lacking.

Another cool thing is that she comes with the same requisite Snake Armor that was included with Teela. The cool part of this for me (aside from being, you know, how the character was portrayed) is that I can now display that cool head dress. See, I like my Teela without the head dress better, but it is essential for the Goddess (in fact she does not include the alternate Teela head) so I now have a great way to have the Snake Armor on the shelf.

First Look – Masters of the Universe Classics King Randor – TheFwoosh.com

December is a huge month for MattyCollector.com – three Masters of the Universe Classics figures, the Animal Instincts 2-pack for DC Universe Classics, two Ghostbusters (Winston in 6-inches and Egon in 12), and a Dark Knight Movie Masters.  Fwoosh is kicking off its First Looks with the MOTU Classics King Randor.  Honestly, if I didn’t have a subscription I might be passing on Randor.  He was a big guy on the show, but in the armor I think he’s a bit too thick.

On the plus side, VeeBee reminded me that the armor puts us one step closer to Jitsu! 😀  And stay tuned for more First Looks – I think the Goddess may be next.

The figure itself, as mentioned before, is very true to the original – he has a very detailed and stern look to him with his essential crown and kingly beard. I know a lot of people (even Toy Guru at SDCC 2009) have made reference to the fact that he closely resembles another king – a certain Highness of Hamburgers, but I would be too afraid to address him as such because he would probably kick your butt. Yes, He-Man is the dedicated Champion of Eternia, but if Adam never changed out of his purple tights and pink vest, Randor would probably be holding the line against any onslaught of evil.

AFP Ask Matty Round-Up for 12/1/9

We missed a Q&A round but are back with more Matty Questions and Answers – well, at least the answers they were able to give.  A couple this round probed a little too deeply.

1. Nice pictures of Battle Armor He-Man – he was one of my faves as a kid. Will he be the first to have a personalized white mailer box? When will I get to see one of those mailer boxes with Jitsu printed on it? 😀

Yes, Battle Armor He-Man will be the first with his name on the white box. Jitsu will also have his name on the box, but we have yet to announce when he will be available. (nice try!)

DC Universe Classics Wave 12 Dr. Mid-Nite, Eclipso, and Iron on eBay

Early eBay auctions from the Far East can be an indicator of when items are a few weeks away from hitting the United States, and a couple of auctions have popped up for DC Universe Classics Wave 12, for Dr. Mid-Nite, Eclipso, and Iron.

I’m not sure what these ones mean for the timing of 12, because the auction titles list them as “pre-sale” though the auction description suggests that the seller has them in hand.  My guess is that we *won’t* see these in the US before year end, but I’ve been wrong before.

Iron – ends Dec 03, 200914:58:29 PST

I’m not advocating buying these, because I’d bet they’ll be hitting retail in massive quantities inside of six weeks, but at this point, Eclipso and Iron have a starting price of $3.99 with $4.50 shipping to the US, and no bids.  Dr. Mid-Nite has a few bids – I think he’ll be one of the most popular figures in DC Universe Classics Wave 12.

Kamandi: The Learn-to-Love-Him Article (I did, and you can too)

One of AFP’s long-time readers, Sector1014, has put together a fantastic write-up on DC Comics’ Last Boy on Earth, Kamandi.  If you had not heard, a new list of DC Universe Classics figures has reportedly been found on the Wal-Mart computer system, possibly giving us a glimpse at upcoming figures – and Kamandi was on it.

Normally I don’t post rumors about upcoming lineups – I like to wait until there’s some corroboration and pics to be shared.  I think I’ve got the first part, with a few folks who are in the know acknowledging the list.  But we’ll be waiting some time for pics, since wave 14 may hit around mid-year 2010. Previews announced that Toyfare #152, in stores on February 10 next year, will feature the premiere of wave 14.

by Sector1014

The leaked possible lineups for future DCUC waves have included Kamandi. This has led to a wave of anti-Kamandi sentiment (“not interested”, “definitely skip”, “sucks”, “looks awful”). OK, it’s really only around 10 anti-Kamandi comments on Fwoosh and AFI combined, and 3 or 4 of them are from the same dude, and there are more happy posts about Kamandi, but anyway, Kamandi needs some love.

I submit the following reasons and images why Kamandi is cool in the hopes that some of the unconverted will find something to like about Kamandi, and thus his eventual appearance in the DCUC line will be greeted with near unanimous cheers and near zero levels of buyer’s remorse. Also, I want more people to get into him so we can also get a couple of Kamandi’s best pals.
