Friday Freebie: Masters of the Universe Classics Loo-Kee and Kowl

It’s time for another AFP Free Stuff giveaway! I’ve been lucky with the Masters of the Universe Classics chase figures – so like we did last year with the Spirit of Hordak, we’ve got a Loo-Kee and Kowl 2-pack up for grabs. No more visiting the Loo-Kee and Kowl page at Mattycollector just to see they’re hiding! We’ll have one lucky winner this time around, and to keep it simple we’ll run the contest on Facebook. Here’s how:

Find the Facebook post for this article on the ActionFigurePics.com Facebook page. It will show up as “ActionFigurePics.com shared a link” with the Friday Freebie title below it. Like that post, add a comment, or share it – do all three if you like, and get three chances to win! And while you’re there, why don’t you give our Facebook page a like, too? Liking the Facebook page is not required to enter the giveaway, but it sure would be nice of you. 😀

We’ll pick a winner next Friday, June 13. Good luck!

Mattycollector Fills a Fur Diaper with Baby Skeletor Doll

With Masters of the Universe Classics winding down this year and next, it looks like Mattel is looking to make the most out of the MOTU property while there’s still folks visiting the Mattycollector site. Enter Baby Skeletor, loosely inspired by a Robot Chicken clip which explores some themes that might not have been appropriate if you were watching on Saturday morning back as a kid.

The clip (at the end of the post) – it might get a couple laughs out of you. But the Baby Skeletor doll will probably register a fair share of eye rolls when it goes on sale for $35 in a couple weeks, during the June sale at Mattycollector. I wasn’t a fan of Molarr the Eternian Dentist, but as a SDCC exclusive, maybe it worked for Mattel. I have a harder time seeing how this item will hit it big with MOTU fans. But what do I know? This won’t be the first entry in the category of strange dolls Mattel has actually made.

Nothing New in Mattycollector’s Early Access for May; Scorpia and Battle Lion Arrive Tomorrow

Mattycollector May 2014 Sale

Club Eternia subscribers double up with the Masters of the Universe Classics Scorpia and Battle Lion this month. Inexplicably, those figures are not available through Early Access, which should be open now with a lackluster offering of has-beens: Elongated Man and Saint Walker from DC Universe Classics and Octavia and Netossa from Masters.

All access, which adds Scorpia and Battle Lion back into the mix, opens up tomorrow at 9AM PST.

Mattycollector Early Access for April Open Now; All Access for MOTUC Blade Tomorrow

Mattycollector April 2014 Sale

If you’re a Club Eternia subscriber, Early Access for April is now open. Most months there’s not much more available than what you’re getting in your sub, besides some re-releases of older Masters of the Universe Classics and inventory clearing of the remaining DC Universe Classics stock. However, this month, subscribers get a shot at Loo-Kee and Kowl (the chase figures that will pop up from time to time like the Spirit of Hordak did last year) and Goat Man (the figure for the “other” conventions this year).

Those figures won’t be part of the All Access sale starting tomorrow at 9AM PST, but in addition to the Club Eternia Masters of the Universe Classics Blade, they’ve got Batros and Strong-Or from Club Filmation, a new mini pack with Skeletor and Moss Man, and the remaining Wally West Flash figures from DC Universe Classics.

Border Patrol: Mortal Kombat 6-Inch Ninjas by Jinzin

I still remember that San Diego Comic-Con years ago when Jazwares had first acquired the Mortal Kombat license – I got the Sub-Zero exclusive and was so let down. I often think about customizing some figures, but that time has passed for me. Here’s a set of Mortal Kombat ninjas from Jinzin, using DC Universe Classics as base figures.

  • Mortal Kombat Sub Zero by Jinzin – one of the original ninjas, this look is based on Sub-Zero’s appearance in the first Mortal Kombat game – ends Apr 12, 2014 17:47:30 PDT
  • Mortal Kombat Scorpion by Jinzin – also from the first Mortal Kombat, Scorpion was just a palette change from Sub-Zero, but still had the awesome GET OVER HERE spear attack – ends Apr 12, 2014 17:43:56 PDT
  • Mortal Kombat Smoke by Jinzin – one of the additions after Boon and Tobias realized people loved ninjas – Smoke is in his Shaolin Monks look – ends Apr 12, 2014 17:52:44 PDT

In AFP’s Border Patrol, we scour active eBay auctions for customized action figures that you won’t want to let slip by!

Custom action figure fans, stay tuned for CustomCon 37, which starts April 21 at Raving Toy Maniac.
