San Diego Comic-Con 2011 – Mattel Masters of the Universe Classics Windraider Preview Night

I know I’ve been posting a lot of Hasbro items tonight. I know Sandman has some Voltron goodness in the works and more, but before I head to bed, here’s the first look at the upcoming vehicle for Masters of the Universe Classics – the Windraider.

This thing is massive, comes with a great stand, and is priced to move at $40. I am pretty sure I see the Four Horsemen’s stamp on this – the Battle Ram the Four Horsemen brought to San Diego Comic-Con last year must have done the trick. The Windraider is scheduled to be available on Matty’s October sale date.

Ask Matty Q&A Round-Up for 7/15

We’ve got the final Ask Matty Q&A before Comic-Con. Sure, we’re a few days late (more on that later), but that’s not the fault of the team at Mattel. Hope to see you at the big show!

1) We’re really looking forward to San Diego Comic-Con next week. We know you’ll be bringing the latest from your DC Universe, Masters of the Universe, Ghostbusters, Voltron and WWE brands. Will you have any new licenses to announce? Any hints?

Ask Matty Q&A Round-Up for 7/1

The Mattel team got the latest Q&A back to us yesterday afternoon, but I didn’t have time to post until this morning. I’ll blame the pile of loot that Big Bad Toy Store delivered, which included my set of DC Universe Classics wave 18. Amazing, and more to come!

1) A lot of us have been wondering how the new DC Universe comics relaunch due in September will be reflected in the DC Universe Classics line. When did you get wind of the changes? How has that affected the line-ups due out in 2012?

It has given us the opportunity to work some of the new looks into the line and refresh key characters. We are actually reworking some of our 2012 line up to take advantage of this! Stay tuned for more at SDCC!

DC Universe Classics Wave 17 Rainbow Lanterns Available at Amazon.com

DC Universe Classics Wave 17, the Rainbow Lantern wave, is on sale now at Amazon – and I’m going to need your help. See, I’m a Prime customer, which means for many items I get free 2-day shipping and no sales tax. Since all of the wave 17 figures qualify and only the Black Lantern Hal Jordan is priced above normal, I’ve got a dilemma.

I was mixed on most of the wave when it was first rumored, and now I am still conflicted. Will I feel like I missed out on the Anti-Monitor Collect & Connect when these are long gone? And hey, the Orange Lantern Lex and the Sinestro Corps Scarecrow are both pretty cool. So, what do you think – buy the full wave, cherry pick, or skip it entirely?
