Toys R Us $5 Off Purchase of $25 Coupon – Today Only

To promote its Facebook page, Toys R Us has a special $5 off coupon for purchases of $25 and over on Toysrus.com. This coupon is for today only!  It’s a nice deal, because they also have selected action figures on clearance.

Update – they’ve posted another coupon today, so keep checking back!

I am thinking about using the coupon to get the Honky Tonk Man for almost nothing. The exclusive version is just $6.98. This would be in revenge for our encounter at San Diego Comic-Con. VeeBee and I found him standing alone in the aisles and asked him to take a picture with us – we’re both old school wrasslin’ fans. He put his arm around VeeBee and then asked for $20. Well, I’m gonna buy you for $1.98! Take that, Honky Tonk!

We have added an exclusive facebook $5 off coupon on any purchase of $25 on Toysrus.com to the coupon tab on our facebook homepage. Happy shopping!

NECA Boondock Saints Figures Hit Stores in November

I admit it – I never saw the Boondock Saints movie, so when I saw the brothers in plastic form at San Diego Comic-Con I had no idea what they were.  But, with a sequel, The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day, coming out next month, I can see why NECA has picked up the license for the first movie, which is a must-see cult classic, according to my movie nerd friends.

The trailer for the sequel was released a couple of days ago at IGN.  For more NECA pictures, check out: San Diego Comic-Con NECA Pics.

Say Your Prayers

New Boondock Saints line has guns at the ready!

BoondockSaints

Connor and Murphy McManus are coming for you, and they brought their pennies.

The story of vigilante / religious nutball brothers who take to the mean streets of Boston on a brutal and murderous quest to rid the city of organized crime, Boondock Saints has become one of the true cult classics of the 21st Century. Developing a word-of-mouth DVD audience after a limited theatrical release in 1999, it has defied time, logic and criticism to attain the status of a true phenomenon. Don’t worry, there’s a sequel in the works.

And just in time for the 10th anniversary of the movie’s original release, NECA is psyched beyond belief to unveil our new 7″ scale Connor and Murphy, seen here in a movie-accurate pose ready to take a bite out of crime, execution-style. Each highly-detailed figure comes with a pistol and interchangeable head and plenty of pious justice to unleash on the gang underworld!

Connor McManus and Murphy McManus hit stores in November, and of course they’ll also be available online at our Amazon storefront.

Q: What’s Better Than Storing Your Action Figures in Big Plastic Tubs?

A: Actually having space to display them! 😀

A couple of days ago, I was lamenting having to move all of the action figures I had, not because we were moving, but because we had decided to install new carpeting. A few of them were on display in a small bookshelf that was mostly filled with books, and the balance were stored in big plastic tubs that I used to call “Staging Area One.” The carpet went in earlier this week, and I’ve been spending the last couple of days setting up the new display.

We got rid of the old bookshelf and added more shelving cubes. In all, there are forty-nine 1-foot square cubes, and I’ve got figures in thirty-one of them, and extra figures and customizing supplies in fourteen more. I’d guess I’ve got at least five times more display space than I used to.

NECA Adds Dead Space to Player Select

If you’re not feeling NECA’s new Batsu vinyl figures for Gears of War, rest assured that they are still making action figures.  Dead Space joins NECA’s Player Select line with two Isaac Clarke figures that will feature light-up masks.

You can check out more NECA figures from San Diego Comic-Con here: San Diego Comic-Con 2009 | NECA.

Suit Up With Isaac Clarke

NECA’s premiere series to fill Dead Space on shelves worldwide

DeadSpaceIsaac-RipperDeadSpaceIsaac-PlasmaCutter

In Dead Space, it’s the 26th Century and you’re Isaac Clarke, an engineer sent to repair the interplanetary mining ship USG Ishimura, near the planet Aegis VII. Seems simple enough — another day, another dollar — until the whole thing gets shot to hell and you end up having to fight for your live against zombified Necromorphs while simultaneously uncovering a conspiracy involving the Church of Unitology and wondering just where your girlfriend, Nicole Brennan, who was assigned as a medical specialist to the Ishimura could have got off to.

Sounds like the makings of some serious trouble, but fortunately ol’ Isaac’s got a pressurized suit that along with keeping him alive, goes great with his plasma cutter, flamethrower and ripper. The EA game was a Game Informer game of the month and has picked up numerous awards for its sound design, atmosphere and overall quality. NECA is proud to reveal two new figures of Isaac Clarke based on his appearance in Dead Space.

Both the standard Isaac with the plasma cutter and the bloody variant with the ripper come with a light up LED mask and back and over 20 points of articulation. With ball joints at the neck, shoulders, wrists and ankles as well as ball hinges at the knees and elbows, left swivel biceps, a swivel waist and T crotch with hinged swivel hips, Isaac has the flexibility to take on whoever — and whatever — he might encounter aboard the Ishimura.

NECA’s Dead Space figures are available September 2009 in stores and online at our own Amazon storefront. Stay tuned to necaonline.com for more info on this and other lines from your favorite games and movies.

NECA Announces Urban Vinyl Gears of War Figures

NECA is the latest toy manufacturer to jump on the urban vinyl bandwagon with its new line of Bastu figures for Gears of War.  In what traditionally has been the realm of niche designer toy makers like Toy2R, Neca’s Batsu joins Hasbro’s Mighty Muggs, McFarlane’s Odd Pods, and Mezco’s Mez-Itz in the mass and specialty markets.  I wonder if Mattel will follow suit with the AttiTUBES they showed at San Diego Comic-Con.

Shifting Gears

NECA announces new BATSU Gears of War figures!

Sure, we’ve got our regular Gears of War figures and they’re awesome, but now things are getting Batsu.

In Japanese, the symbol “batsu,” like the English ‘X’ is used to show something wrong. Like when you get a strike on Family Feud, that’s a batsu. For NECA, it’s a whole new way of experiencing some of your favorite characters and lines, and we’re starting with the three most popular Gears of War combatants in limited production runs (translation: get ’em while you can).

The highly-stylized Batsu versions of Dom, Marcus and The Locust each stand over 5″ tall, are poseable at the neck and shoulders and designed with urban vinyl in mind. They also have the Lancer accessory, and you’ll know them when you see them because of the window box packaging.

Once again, these are limited runs, which means they won’t be around forever. They hit stores next month, so make sure to keep an eye out, and of course they’ll be available online at our Amazon storefront. Keep it tuned to necaonline.com for more info on this and other lines from your favorite games and movies.
