Play Imaginative Announces Super Alloy 1/12 Scale Robocop for 1Q 2014

Play Imaginative continues to pick up niches in the available licenses. Hot Toys has 12-inch diecast Robocops and NECA has 7-inch plastic Robocop figures coming to market. The Super Alloys will sneak in between these two at 6-inches and likely upwards of 80% diecast. Also, since both the old and new logos are shown, maybe we’ll be seeing classic and new movie versions.

The Super Alloy 1/12 Iron Man figures are coming in at $100 and change, so that’s what I’ll expect for pricing for the Super Alloy RoboCop figure(s).

SDCC 2013: NECA – Marvel, DC, Video Games, Movies and TV

IMG_1305.JPG

With its expansion into quarter scale figures, NECA has been able to add Marvel and DC movies (even the Batman classic TV series spawned a movie) to its impressive array of licensed action figures. They continue to own classic movies from my youth in the 7-inch scale, expanding its Alien, Predator, Robocop, Gremlins, and more. With the Lone Ranger, Kick-Ass, and Pacific Rim, they’re getting their piece of modern hits too.

On the video game front, they seem focused on Valve games. It’s interesting that they’re Valve split the figure license between NECA and 3A Toys – NECA has 7-inch scale and 3A has 12-inch. The Portal 2 robots are an example of figures that will be available in both scales. With Team Fortress 2, NECA has a broader assortment.

Fans of Playmates’ World of Springfield figures get a new assortment of Simpsons, as NECA has partnered with Fox on a line of 25 of the most iconic guest stars to celebrate 25 seasons of the long-running series. [/Ron]

SDCC 2013: Hot Toys at the Sideshow Collectibles Booth

Hot Toys (24 of 60)

I had been wanting to get to the Sideshow booth to check out the Hot Toys displays – it’s always one of the highlights of SDCC for me. I got my chance yesterday afternoon – and would have had an Instapics post up sooner, if it wasn’t for the massive congestion in the cellular network. All afternoon, a lot of folks in the San Diego Convention Center were having trouble making calls and sending texts, not to mention uploading pictures to the AFPRon Instagram account. 😀

Despite frustrations trying to keep connected, the Hot Toys showing did not disappoint. As you might expect, there was a ton of Avengers and Iron Man figures on display, but when you add in Robocop, G.I. JOE, Lone Ranger, and the growing DC licenses, there was something good for everybody.

NECA Reveals 7-Inch Scaled ED-209 from RoboCop

NECA RoboCop ED-209As much as you want to comply, maybe the Hot Toys ED-209 and RoboCop figures would put too much of a hit on your wallet. If so, NECA has the answer. To accompany NECA’s line of 7-inch RoboCop figures, they’ve just shown off their upcoming ED-209, due on shelves in September.

The Enforcement Droid will be nearly 10 inches tall to be in scale with RoboCop, and will have articulation in the head, arms, and legs. You’ll also be able to open panels on ED-209’s arms and pop out a rocket launcher on his right arm. If that’s not enough, ED-209 will also feature a sound chip with hydraulic sounds and quotes from the movie. “You have fifteen seconds to comply.”

Retailers will have once chance to order – NECA intends to have only one single production run, and after that this beast is retired.
