… Make that Five Reasons

Hot Toys SDCC Preview - Iron Man Gemini

No sooner had I posted the Hot Toys SDCC teasers I saw earlier this weekend, all to be shown in their full glory at the Sideshow booth at SDCC, did they add another teaser to the list. It’s the Iron Man Mark 39 “Gemini” Space Suit from Iron Man 3. This was one of the armors that had been teased by the movie folks in the hype machine leading up to the IM3 opening.

With the Gemini reveal, I believe that leaves only the Silver Centurion armor as the one remaining armor heavily featured in Iron Man 3 that Hot Toys hasn’t yet shown. It’s got to be just a matter of time.

Hot Toys Has Four More Reasons to Visit Sideshow at SDCC

I already love spending time at the Sideshow Collectibles booth at San Diego Comic-Con – it’s massive and chock full of 1/6 scale goodness. And even though it’s just a couple days away, Hot Toys is still driving up the pre-show hype with previews of some figures that will debut at the big show at Sideshow. We saw the Hot Toys Batman Classic TV Series Batmobile last year, and finally we’ll have an Adam West Batman and Burt Ward Robin to go with it.

Hot Toys teased the Iron Man Heartbreaker armor previously, but it’ll be nice to see it (and a ton of other Iron Men, I am sure) up close. And I had no idea they were doing Lone Ranger figure(s) – Johnny Depp’s Tonto is up first, and I can’t imagine that Armie Hammer’s Lone Ranger will follow soon.

Catch the Daily SDCC Contests at Sideshow Collectibles – Hot Toys Thor is Up Now

Sideshow is always one of my favorite booths at San Diego Comic-Con, and now I’ll be stopping by the Sideshow Collectibles website every day – with a new contest every day in July, often for 1/6 scale figures, there’ll be a lot of loot up for grabs. The latest contest I saw was for a Hot Toys Thor – the second version from the Avengers movie. Good luck!

Hot Toys Reveals First of 2013 Exclusives – Captain America Movie Star Spangled Man

Captain America First Avenger Star Spangled Man with a Plan screen cap

Hot Toys spent their Fourth of July revealing the first of their 2013 exclusives – the “Star Spangled Man with a Plan” from Captain America: the First Avenger. It’s got a great first appearance feel to it, even if you weren’t a fan of the movie. I loved it though, even if the USO segment that featured this costume was a little long.

I’m sure Sideshow Collectibles will get an allotment of these figures, like they did with the Hot Toys Rescue Captain America exclusive from last year.

Sideshow Toys Reveals Prototype Armor Boba Fett

Sideshow Prototype Boba Fett 1

Star Wars afficionados will dig the latest 1/6 scale figure from Sideshow Collectibles. It’s Boba Fett in the armor that Ralph McQuarrie and Joe Johnston designed for his initial screen tests. Although the design team knew that for The Empire Strikes Back that Boba Fett would have a fair amount of color, for the initial look the armor was a stark white.

The Sideshow exclusive version of the prototype Boba Fett includes a Star Wars beach towel cape (and a matching base.) It’s a tribute to the initial Boba Fett screen test – the costume team hadn’t finished the cape, so a Star Wars beach towel served as a stand in. Online retailers like BigBadToyStore also have a regular version available.
