Sideshow Collectibles Announces 1/6 Scale “Escape From New York” Snake Plissken

Growing up in the 80s, Escape From New York and Snake Plissken were staples of the late night cable TV movie diet, with all the nutrition you could want with low budget effects, loads of violence, and hotness in Adrienne Barbeau.

Sideshow’s upcoming 1/6 scale figure of Snake has got a pretty good Kurt Russell likeness, the costume details you’d expect, and Snake’s arsenal to boot. You’ll be able to pre-order Snake Plissken tomorrow at Sideshow, including a Sideshow exclusive version with a surprising cassette tape.

And Sideshow – don’t get any ideas about an Escape From L.A. version. Somehow it’d be the same figure, but suck!

Weekend Toy Run: Legendary Scale Marvel Doctor Doom by Sideshow Collectibles (I Wish!)

Yeah, I’m just doing some pretty legendary wishful thinking this weekend, looking at this Legendary Scale Doctor Doom by Sideshow Collectibles. It’s over four feet tall. It weighs 35 pounds. Doom comes with classic, modern, and scarred head sculpts. Damn you, Reed Richards! Over 15 artists contributed to making the figure. Wow.

It’s up for pre-order for the low low price of $1,999.99 – and that’s before tax and shipping. So only the biggest Dr. Doom fans with a toy budget the size of Latveria’s GDP would be really thinking of getting this figure. Who dares order Dr. Doom? Not me – as much as I fear Dr. Doom, my wife is scarier.

Sideshow has a pretty cool social media contest going on for their 1/6 scale Joker – it normally goes for $189.99 and the Sideshow exclusive comes with a pair of Joker fish.

They’ve posted seven clues plus a bonus on Facebook, Google+, Twitter, and Instagram. Meow! – Sideshow Collectibles 1/6 Scale Catwoman Available to Pre-Order

I’ll admit I haven’t been paying too much attention to Sideshow Collectibles’ 1/6 scale DC figures, but now that DC Universe Classics is more or less out of circulation for the time being, their announcement of the pre-order for the Sideshow 1/6 scale Catwoman figure has piqued my interest. It’s $189, comes with a ton of accessories, including two heads – both of which have got a serious Michelle Pfeiffer vibe going on. The Sideshow exclusive version comes with a cat idol.

This could be a slippery slope. I’m not sure if Sideshow is teasing an upcoming Batman figure in their pics, or if that’s an older Bats. And the Joker is now in stock, and at the same price, I’m severely tempted.
