Enjoy a few photos of what went down this year at C2E2 in Chicago! This convention may have started small, but it’s gotten very large, very fast.

Weekend Toy Run: Saint Patrick’s Day Sale at TFAW – Up to 50% Off Toys and More
Things From Another World is having its Saint Patrick’s Day sale, and they’ve got 240 items up to half off in their Toy section. They’ve got stuff from Funko, NECA, Hasbro, Mattel, Diamond Select Toys, and more. I’ve got my eye on this Hanna Barbera Space Ghost – at $10.49 it’s a steal for a six-incher. I’ll need to take a closer look to see what else there is to take home. Happy shopping!
Don’t get angry: everyone can have the luck of the Irish at TFAW! Now through March 23, you’ll save 20-50% on 1,000s of graphic novels, comics, toys, statues, and more!
However, you’ll have to move fast: our inventory of these items is extremely limited. Once you find the “gold” your collection needs, you’ll need to snap it up before someone else tries their luck!

Toy Fair 2014: LEGO Star Wars, Guardians of the Galaxy, Ghostbusters, and LEGO Movie – Official PR and Pics
We caught the announcements of the first Guardians of the Galaxy set and the CUUSOO Ghostbusters ECTO-1 as they hit the interwebs as Toy Fair kicked off. LEGO was kind enough to send official press releases and hi-res pics for those sets and more. Some highlights from LEGO:
- THE LEGO MOVIE is currently the #1 movie in America and additionally, we announced a new set coming out in March, MetalBeard’s Sea Cow. This massive, highly detailed set will be sure to turn heads as when built, contains 2,741 pieces and even includes Emmet’s iconic double-decker couch.
- The LEGO Group and Lucasfilm announced new LEGO Star Wars sets based on the upcoming Star Wars Rebels television series, launching this fall on the Disney channel. Additionally, the announcement coincides with the 15th anniversary of the LEGO Star Wars collection, the first licensed property ever to come to life in LEGO form.
- This morning, the LEGO Ghostbusters Ecto-1 set was unveiled for the first time. Be careful, your friends might start calling you after seeing that you have this set because of the realistic details included, like the paranormal detection equipment and proton packs!
- The LEGO Group shared that they will have 3 sets based on the much anticipated movie, Guardians of the Galaxy coming out this summer. Right now we have only images and info for one of the LEGO Guardians of the Galaxy products, so please stay tuned for updates in the coming months.

Toy Fair 2014: Big Things Coming for Star Wars Black Series 6-Inchers
In the past, I’d referred to Hasbro’s Star Wars Black Series (the 6-inchers) as “Star Wars Legends” insofar as the brand’s first foray into the 6-inch scale has taken strong cues from the Marvel line in terms of its sculpt and articulation. But despite an assumed softness in the age-old 3.75-inch scale that I think prompted the new line, we shouldn’t forget that the brand is more like the Empire, able to take grab shelf space and subvert it to its will.
So while Marvel Legends relies on programs like Build-a-Figure to sweeten the deal for consumers and retailers, Star Wars needs no such enticements. The “big” reveal for this Toy Fair is the introduction of the Black Series Deluxe line extension, offering a vehicle for Hasbro to bring higher price point items into the retail mix. If this were Marvel, we’d have a Build-a-Jabba; the Star Wars brand allows for a shelf-grab for more of your collector dollars.

A Star Wars Christmas Story by Macas
Most folks have taken down their lights and packed away their Christmas decorations for the year, but AFP reader Macas sent in a story from his childhood that put me right back in the holiday spirit. It’s a story about the one toy that would make or break his Christmas – and change his life forever. He now makes a living as a toy dealer, buying and selling toy collections, so he’s living the dream!
Spoiler alert – no tongues get stuck to flagpoles, but I can’t promise he didn’t shoot his eye out with a laser blaster.
