SDCC 2012: Superman, the Flash, Batman and SDCC Exclusive Bane USB Flash Drives

With The Dark Knight Rises opening the week after Comic-Con, you can bet there’s going to be some Batman and Bane madness. And if you want some portable storage for your SDCC footage of the Warner Bros. panel (or whatever digital media you need to carry in your pocket, you can pick up one of 500 Bane flash drives exclusive to the show. I’m sure they’ll have the rest there too, including the previous runs of Batman and Green Lantern flash drives.

I think Mimoco ought to pick up the Marvel license, so they can make a Leader MIMOBOT.

DC Universe Classics Justice Society of America (Old School)

DCUC Justice Society of America 1 (1280x960)

I’ve been snapping some group shots of teams I have on my shelves, and here’s the latest, of my classic Justice Society of America. I had to reconfigure my photo setup (perhaps a post for another time), and one of the results is that I can take pictures of larger groups (and larger figures). I may have missed spring cleaning, but think this is leading up to some shuffling that I need to do to clear some shelf space. But the JSA is likely going to remain on my shelves – I’ve just got a nostalgic soft spot for whose old cross-over stories in the old Justice League of America comics. Mattel has done pretty well by this team – I’ve only got one minor custom, which was a head replacement for Alan Scott (head size for DCUC figures is another post for another time).

Toy Fair 2012 – Mattel Collector Night – Toy Guru Video

Mattel held its Collector Night event at New York Toy Fair yesterday, and Scott “Toy Guru” Neitlich was on hand to share the details of all the products they had on display.

Toy Fair 2012 – DC Universe Classics Report

DCU Club Infinite Earths (25) (1280x1280).jpg

Mattel held its annual Collector Night at New York Toy Fair yesterday, and we were on site to take pictures of the latest and greatest figures to be revealed across their collector-oriented lines. We’ll cover most of that over the next few days, but I did want to post what we has spawned from one of our favorite lines – DC Universe Classics.

So in this update, I’ll be covering the DC Universe Club Infinite Earths subscription, the retail-based DC Universe All-Stars, DC Universe Classics 2-Packs (Toys ‘R Us exclusive), Batman Legacy, and the 6-inchers revealed from the Movie Masters line for The Dark Knight. If you’re a fan of 6-inch DC action figures, there’s still plenty of stuff coming our way this year!

Mattel DC Universe Reign of the Superman Pre-Order at BigBadToyStore.com

Reign of Supermen (1280x1280)

In our last Ask Matty Q&A, we asked about possible Superman figures in 2012 as in a lead-in to Man of Steel, the Superman movie reboot due in 2013. We got a coy “too early to comment” answer, but apparently it’s not too soon for sales information to hit retailers.

AFP sponsor BigBadToyStore.com has Reign of Superman figures for pre-order, with a tentative arrival date in February next year. No pictures were provided, but I am imagining that we’ll be seeing reissues of the classic DC Super Heroes and DC Universe Classics figures that Mattel has delivered over the past several years. I would hope that we see a retooled, larger Doomsday (the original underwhelming Doomsday is pictured above), but we’ll have to see.

BBTS pre-orders include a set of five, and then individual figures for Doomsday, Eradicator, Steel, and Superboy. Cyborg Superman is not listed individually – perhaps he will be shortpacked.
