Marvel Legends EU Disney Store Exclusive Avengers 5-Pack – High Res Pics

Marvel Legends EU Disney Store exclusive - package

A short while ago we came across an Instagram post of this Avengers-themed Marvel Legends 5-pack. With the Disney Store marking, we learned it was to be exclusive to the retail chain, but only in the European Union stores. Since the exclusive is comprised of re-issued figures, its exclusivity outside the United States wouldn’t raise much interest or concern. However, keen observers noted that a new interchangeable head for Tony Stark was included with Iron Man. Hard to imagine that the smallest piece in this pack could be the most sought after, but stranger things have happened.

Hasbro has shared high res pics of the set with us.

Age of Ultron Movie Vision Revealed

Origins of Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver explained

Entertainment Weekly Summer Movie Preview Age of Ultron - covers combined 1

Entertainment Weekly’s Summer Movie Preview issue is out this week, and it will feature four Avengers: Age of Ultron covers that you can collect and connect (R.I.P. DC Universe Classics). Together, they form a group shot of the Avengers and Ultron that is highly reminiscent of the collected covers of X-Men #1 from back in 1991. The second cover reveals Vision in his / its entirety. His design is markedly different from the two Vision action figures we know are coming in Marvel Legends.

Vision’s origin in the comics is a known quantity, but since we know there’s no Hank Pym in Avengers: AOU, we know that Ultron’s origin is different. Perhaps we’ll be surprised how Vision comes to be. The teaser for the EW issue also clarifies the origins of Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver. Previous speculation tied them to the Inhumans as revealed in Agents of SHIELD. This helps Marvel steer clear of the licensing issues with Fox and X-Men / mutants. But they’ll actually be more closely tied to events that played out in the first Avengers movie.

Bandai reveals the Iron Man Mark 45 armor and teases an upcoming Hulkbuster

Bandai SH Figuarts Avengers Age of Ultron 01

Thanks to Japanese photo blogger to ho (blog at seesaa.net | Flickr) we’ve got a really nice look at the upcoming Avengers: Age of Ultron figures due from Bandai’s S.H. Figuarts line. to ho took a whole bunch of pictures at the Akiba Showroom, Bandai’s official showroom for Tamashii Nations. Knowing how much fun I have looking at Bandai’s stuff with the limited display space they have at shows like San Diego Comic-Con, I can only imagine how awesome it is to see a whole showroom filled with their stuff.

Bandai had previously revealed four Avengers: AOU figures:

  • Iron Man Mark 43 (due out in April)
  • Captain America and Hulk (due out in July)
  • Thor (due out in September)

However, to ho also shot pics of a previously unannounced figure – the Iron Man Mark 45, who was standing alongside the rest of the Avengers figures.

Marvel Legends Thanos – Iron Man, Hulk, Captain America and Thanos

Marvel Legends Thanos wave group shot (1 of 8)

As you may have seen, while I was traveling, I was lucky enough to pick up the Marvel Legends Batroc and Spider-Woman (see their fly-by video) on the pegs at a Hong Kong Toys R Us. I had a pre-order for the Marvel Legends Thanos wave at Amazon (they’re all in stock at regular or sale prices, except for Spider-Woman), and now the rest of the wave, Iron Man, Hulk, and Captain America are here.

That means I can complete my Thanos Build-a-Figure, who was missing his right arm and both legs. I opted not to pick up Hellcat because I didn’t want to be tempted by the leftover BAF piece – like Spider-Woman, she comes with Thanos’ head and left arm. The completionist tendencies (which I am trying to break) will probably win out in the long run.

Toy Fair 2015: Square Enix Launches Play Arts Kai Marvel Variants Line

Toy Fair 2015 Square Enix Play Arts Kai Marvel Variants (1 of 7)

Square Enix has broadened their non-video game licenses to include the Marvel Universe, by virtue of their Play Arts Kai Variants line. Variants reimagine characters with hyper-stylized designs. With their DC, Square Enix used Variants to extend their DC lines beyond the movie and Arkham lines they already had in place. Marvel Variants, in contrast, allows Square Enix to skirt the edges of existing comic book or movie licenses that may belong to other licensees.

The Marvel Variants line begins with Spider-Man, Iron Man, and Thor, and Square Enix also teased an upcoming Venom in silhouette. With prices creeping up, the DC Variants are now in the $95 and up range from $60 – 70 a couple of years ago. If Marvel comes in at these prices, what’s your interest in the new line?
