Thundercats Ho! Minimates Box Set and Deals at Action Figure Xpress

Today we’ve got two updates from Diamond Select Toys via the Art Asylum site. First up, we’ve got a new Thundercats Minimates box set arriving this Fall. And if you need a fix for Thundercats now, I also came across some deals at ActionFigureXpress.

Featuring “new” ThunderCats Bengali, Lynx-O, Pumyra and Ratar-O, as well as a non-poseable minifigure of the Berbil named Ro-Bear Bert, this box set is available to all comic shops and specialty store retailers through Diamond Comic Distributors’ Previews catalog. Now available for pre-order, the set will ship in the fall.

The three new ThunderCats in this set – blacksmith Bengali, healer Pumyra and wise, sightless Lynx-O – were introduced in the five-part 1985 movie ThunderCats Ho! as three Thunderans who came to Third Earth in the wake of Thundera’s destruction. Ro-Bear Bert was on of the two Berbils who saved the trio from the doomed planet, and Ratar-O was the Mutant commander who sought to capture them for the evil Mumm-Ra.

They include New 52 Figure two-Packs of Flash & Vibe and Wonder Woman & Katana, each priced at $34.99 ($5 off the MSRP), as well as a single Martian Manhunter figure at $21.99 ($3 off the MSRP). Aquaman & Black Adam and Superman & Nightwing get 3.75″ figure two-packs from Injustice: Gods Among Us for $26.99 each ($3 off the MSRP) as well. Diamond and Gentle Giant have just announced the first figure from the upcoming movie “The Wolverine”. This Wolverine is shirtless with claws extended and a grim facial expression, comes with alternate head and hands, and is listed at $24.99 right now, although that price may change once more information is revealed.

NECA had a variety of new items to show at Toy Fair this past weekend. These include a 1/4 Scale Superman from the upcoming “Man of Steel” movie, which was priced at $84.99. Diamond Select Toys Announces Minimates 10th Anniversary Event at New York Comic-Con

Anyone remember these? They’re Bruce Lee Minimates, back when they were still 3-inches large, and back when Tower Records still existed and you could find toys at specialty retailers. These Minimates are from my father-in-law’s pop culture collection. He was also into comics, so there was always something cool to read or new to check out. These Bruce Lee Minimates got me hooked on the large Star Trek Minimates, then the small ones, then the Marvel and DC lines.

It’s kind of nuts that Minimates are a decade old. Congrats to the Art Asylum alums and the Diamond Select crew. I can’t wait to check out the Minimates exhibit at NYCC!
