Playmates Toys has announced that Toys R Us will be the exclusive home to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Classic Collection. If you haven’t seen the 4-inch Turtles and vehicles manufactured from the original molds making their way to TRU shelves near you, you will soon. In addition, Rocksteady and Bebop from the 6-inch TMNT Classic Collection should be arriving within the next month, at TRU and specialty retailers.

At SDCC, Playmates confirmed they’ll be adding movie Turtles from the 1990 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to the 6-inch line. That’s extremely cool, but I’m still waiting for Shredder and the Foot Ninjas.

Weekend Toy Run: Mattel Batman and Robin 2-Pack and Toys R Us Batmobile Exclusive

DC Comics Classic TV Series Batman and Robin Action Figure, 2-Pack DC Comics Classic TV Series Batman and Robin Action Figure, 2-Pack 2 Mattel Batman Classic TV Series Batmobile

So far I have been successful in resisting the Batman Classic TV Series line of figures. Don’t get me wrong – I grew up on re-runs of the Adam West / Burt Ward series and have a real love for the show. As a kid, I had a small diecast version of the Batmobile, and it was awesome! It had tiny versions of the dynamic duo that could fit in the cockpit – they could fit in the Batboat I had too. The car had a bunch of action features – the front had a chopping blade that popped out, the wheel rims included a bat symbol that came out to pop the tires of bad guy vehicles, the tubes on the trunk actually fired little red missles, and the flames in the exhaust port pulsated when you spun the wheels.

One of the reasons I’ve held out on the new toys is that I couldn’t see having the figures without the Batmobile, which is a Toys R Us exclusive. I’ve come to the realization that in the digital age, toy runs just aren’t as fun, and that’s been my excuse for not staking out the nearest TRUs for the Batmobile. But that’s becoming moot.

For one thing, the Batman and Robin 2-pack is back down to $29 and change on Amazon – there was a time that they had sold through their stock, and 3rd party sellers had bumped the price to nearly $50. On top of that, I found that while it’s not available for shipping, ToysRUs.com can check your local store’s inventory for the Batmobile and hold it for you to pick up. Using it, I can see that the Batmobile is in stock at the two TRUs nearby. At $59 and change, it’s a great deal when you keep the $215 Ghostbusters Ecto-1 in mind. But I’m pretty sure my wife will give me the evil eye if I bring home a 1/12 scale Batmobile. Someone, anyone, please talk me down off the toy buying ledge!

Star Trek Into Toys R Us – Star Trek Select Exclusives to Join Minimates On TRU Shelves

StarTrekTRU1

Great news for Star Trek fans and Diamond Select Toys – Star Trek Select will be back on big box retailer shelves soon. Toys R Us has picked up the relaunch of Star Trek action figures, and will have exclusive versions of Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock to start.

These versions will ship with rocky terrain bases that fit together, but will have fewer other accessories than the Star Trek Select figures that will ship to specialty and comic book stores. For example, it doesn’t look like the grimacing Spock head, alternate hands, or the crouching or jumping legs will be included. No matter – it will still be great to see more Trek on retail shelves.

Check Out the G.I. JOE Online BOGO Deals During Toys R Us Two Day Sale

I’ve been getting email from Toys R Us advertising their “lowest prices of the season” during the two-day sale today and tomorrow – pushing deals at their bricks and mortar locations. While my local TRU has got deals on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Spider-Man, and Star Wars in-store, that doesn’t mean online shoppers are left out in the cold.

The online store is running a Buy One Get One 50% Off deal on G.I. JOE right now.

Although prices of Joes have been going up, the BOGO deal helps a bit. There’s a total of forty-four items in the G.I. JOE BOGO sale right now. Happy shopping!
