There were a lot of amazing toys this year, and a return to larger scale figures, which is very welcome.
I have narrowed my favorites down to two.

I have narrowed my favorites down to two.
It’s already the Year of the Snake, and soon will be the Year of the Horse (the next Chinese New Year is January 31, 2014, for those of you planning toy production at Chinese factories) – that might explain why Amazon has the Transformers Year of the Dragon Ultimate Optimus Prime as part of its Cyber Monday Deals Week. It’s discounted to $42.49 from a list price of $89.99 until 2:20PM PST, or while supplies last.
I’m not a huge Transformers fan, so I hadn’t seen this humongous beast before – but apparently this repaint was an Asian exclusive that was available in 2012, naturally, since that was the Year of the Dragon. Gung hay fat choy! (That’s Happy New Year in Chinese, you heathens!)

With your help, we could be launching another small toy company with the aim of producing action figures, with a twist – the robot animal figures are made out of weapons and accessories that work with themselves or with your other toy lines. BMOG Toys just began their Kickstarter campaign to get the first two figures, a bear and a manta ray, tooled up and launched.
Sounds similar to what our pals at Spy Monkey Creations has done with the Weaponeers of Monkaa, but with BMOG (Bio-Mechanical Ordnance Gestalts), the figures and the weapons are one and the same. The Spy Monkey weapons packs have their roots very much in Masters of the Universe Classics. BMOG has its roots in Transformers – the project team members have worked with Hasbro. You can find more info on the BMOG Toys website.

Transformers Piranacon by frenzyrumble – when a custom tops $1K, you know it’s special – this combiner was originally a commission, but I suppose an unlucky collector was not able to pay – ends Oct 16, 2013 18:00:21 PDT
