This is a very cool announcement. A very long time ago, my wife’s father had a set of Watchmen comic miniature lead figures that he painted. He also had a set of customs in that scale for the other characters that weren’t included in the set. I can’t wait to see who is included in this set of 25 Heroclix!

In today’s installment of “the universe loves a good play on words,” I found a Forager while out hitting a couple of Wal-Marts. I usually don’t like going to Wal-Mart, because where we live I never find anything, but we’re on the road celebrating her birthday and Thanksgiving, so I was tagging along.
But Black Friday – forget it. These days I don’t have the willpower to put together a plan of attack and brave the crowds, so I’m much happier staying away from the stores.
That doesn’t mean I’ll be missing out on all the deals though. Here’s a list of toy-related deals that the retailers have put together for guys like me. If you’d rather shop from the comfort of your own home, check them out!
Wal-Mart – Friday-Only Online Specials – There’s a couple of Transformers deals but not much else in the way of toys. I was more interested in some of the electronics and video game deals.
Entertainment Earth – Black Friday Sale – EE has over 60 items in their Black Friday Sale list. The most interesting to me were the Halo baddies for $5.99.
Things From Another World – Save 20-60% During Our Blackest Friday Weekend Sale – There’s close to 500 toys on sale here, but many of them are the standard sales prices. Found a vinyl figure of Usagi Yojimbo that I bought for my brother-in-law for full price a few years ago for 60% off, and there’s also the comics stuff on sale here through the weekend.
Amazon – Black Friday Deals Week in Toys & Games – There are deals on Transformers, Halo, and Watchmen toys, among others, and there’s also deals across all of Amazon’s categories.
OK, I think that should keep us homebodies busy for a couple hours early Friday morning. Happy shopping!
I just watched Watchmen: The Ultimate Cut so these pics are well-timed. Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s rendition of the Comedian is one of the stronger points in the film.
The Comedian, due near the end of 1Q 2010, joins the second Silk Spectre in the Hot Toys Watchmen lineup.
